Sleeve Gastrectomy
It is also known as stomach reduction surgery. With laparoscopic (closed) surgery, 80 percent of the stomach is removed. Gastric sleeve surgery is called this because the remaining 20 percent looks like a sleeve. Since the stomach volume is reduced, satisfaction is provided with less food. With the removal of the hunger hormone, the desire to eat decreases. Vitamin and mineral deficiencies occur less frequently than most bariatric surgeries.
The Process:
In sleeve gastrectomy surgery performed with the laparoscopic method, approximately 80% of the stomach is cut and removed. Since the entrance and exit parts of the stomach are protected during the procedure, there is no problem in the continuity of the digestive system. Therefore, the risk of stomach reduction surgery is extremely low.
